Gilles Talbotier, Director, GRAIN (Grenoble Alpes Incubation)
Since he graduated from Essec a Business School in Paris, in 1982, Gilles Talbotier has been working in industry, first in the aircraft business then in the composite materials sector. Initially in charge of sales and marketing assignments, he quickly turned to the creation and management of companies, both in France and in the European Nordic Countries.
In 2000, he took over the general management of Grain (Grenoble-Alpes-Incubation), a public incubator in the Grenoble area, Silicon Valley in the valley of the Alps in southeastern France, to convert mature research projects into innovative start-ups. By the end of 2007, more than 70 young high-tech companies have been launched after being incubated at Grain, raising more than 50 M€ from venture capital.
In 2006, he created a new non-profit organization, Petale, to coach start-ups after their creation and to help them to settle down in Grenoble when coming from abroad.  Both Grain and Petale are considered key factors of dynamism of the Grenoble area in the field of technology transfer to stimulate the creation of highly innovative companies.  www.grain-incubation.com
