MINATEC works closely with local and regional governments, Grenoble-based science-education group CCSTI, and local school boards to develop community education and outreach programs about micro and nanotechnologies.
The programs can take a variety of forms. MINATEC regularly sends experts to local schools to give talks and hosts class trips to the campus so that students can discover the world of scientific research.
MINATEC currently offers four types of programs, each designed for a specific population:
Nanotech Labs
The Nanotech Labs program targets students in their second-to-last year of high school. Students get an opportunity to participate in interactive scientific and technical experiments designed to answer any questions they may have and to further elucidate any points already covered by their teachers while conducting lab work. The labs are held at the students’ school or at CIME Nanotech.
MINATEC Middle School
MINATEC organizes and finances a MINATEC Campus Discovery Day for middle school students.
MINATEC Science Fair for high school students
MINATEC and its partners hold a two-day Science Fair specifically designed to reach young people through exhibits, scientific experiments, and clean room tours. The first day, reserved exclusively for high school classes, is held on a Friday. In addition to the basic program, students are also invited to attend an informal “Midis MINATEC” brown bag lunch talk about MINATEC and nanotechnologies.
