Presto Engineering creates a joint lab with CEA-Léti

U.S.-based Presto Engineering, a specialist in 3D semiconductor device testing and analysis, has created a joint lab with CEA-Léti. Presto Engineering will send up to ten of its employees to the lab this year. The unit will work on the new challenges raised by 3D devices, including through-silicon vias (TSVs), the interconnects between levels on 3D devices. The unit’s work will focus on determining failure mechanisms, test strategies, and physical access to silicon within stacked layers. The partnership will help Presto Engineering improve its business model for bringing 3D semiconductor devices into volume production. The company, which currently employs 45 people, hopes to create 70 new jobs in France and elsewhere in Europe as a result of the new joint lab’s work.
