CALL
FOR POSTERS
The
third edition of the International Micro and Nanotechnology Meeting for
research and industry, MINATEC 2003, will be held in Grenoble from 22
to 26 September 2003 at the Alpes Congrès exhibition and congress
centre.
MINATEC 2003 will enable researchers and industry, from France, Europe
and all over the world, to present the state of the art and outlook for
two high potential application sectors: microtechnologies for biology
and healthcare; and embedded microsystems.
The programme has been decided by representatives of the micro and nanotechnology
networks which partnered the original edition of the event in 2001: French
Micro and Nanotechnology Network (RMNT), CNRS, Club Nanotechnologie and
ADEMIS, seconded by other representative organizations including CREMSI,
CSEM, OMNT, and SITELESC.
The call for posters
addressed to you by the MINATEC 2003 Programme Committee will supplement
the conferences scheduled to cover the following topics:

Nanomaterials,
nanostructures and applications

Nanotechnologies

Nanoelectronics
– Nanooptics – Molecular electronics.

Micro
and nanotechnologies for electronics and signal processing

Micro
and nanotechnologies for biology and the environment

Biochips
– Microlaboratories on chips…

MEMS
/ MOEMS – Wireless Microsystems

Microsystems
for telecommunications

Microsensors
– Micromotors

Innovative
mass storage technologies...

Micromachines
Although posters
are intended to illustrate one of the scheduled talks they will be on
show for the whole of MINATEC 2003.
On the Thursday (25 September) the author of the best poster will be awarded
a prize for the best MINATEC 2003 poster.
To contribute actively to the meeting and propose a poster please fill
in the preregistration form (see link below), print it and fax it back
to us, with the poster abstract form, before 2 June 2003.
Poster
selection: a poster selection jury will convene and you will
be informed in person as to whether or not your proposal has been accepted.
RECOMMENDATIONS
Caution
All the information contained in posters will be published. The posters
will be posted on the Minatec web site at the end of the 2003 meeting.
By producing and submitting posters to MINATEC 2003, authors agree to
the publication of all the information they contain.
Objectives
Whether authors work in industry or research, their posters must enable
those attending the meeting to understand and remember either the innovative
qualities, the merits for application or the economic value of the work
presented.
To ensure posters are eye-catching, authors should pay particular attention,
from the outset, to three points: title, applications and know-how.
For each block of information your exposition must be didactic, concise
and extremely clear.
The methodology described below should enable you to design your poster
directly on a computer in line with the expectations of researchers and
business people, without bothering with material problems linked to page
layout or printing.
Language
Posters must be in English.
Technical resources
Experience shows that the software most commonly used to produce and present
posters is Microsoft PowerPoint (.ppt on Macintosh or PC). You should
therefore use this software to produce your poster for MINATEC 2003.
Send the file by email and the MINATEC 2003 team will print it on A0 paper.
Download the basic template for producing your poster (maquette.ppt
- 136 kB).
Instructions on poster design
Layout
The A4 format should be used.
Please choose conventional fonts such as Times, Arial, Helvetica, Geneva,
etc.
Leave a margin of at least 1 cm all round.
The document should be presented with:
- a top strip containing, at the same height, the MINATEC logo separated
from the title (upper case, 18-pts, 2 lines
at the most)
- a bottom strip containing the full details of the author(s) and any
relevant university and industrial partnerships (including logos). This
strip should not be more than 3.5 cm high.
Information
blocks
Applications: catch the audience's attention
immediately by clearly identifying the application fields for your work.
Innovation and strong points: explain, concisely
and didactically, what is original about your work: highlight the characteristics
of the product or process and/or underline the prospects for your research.
Technological processes: clearly outline
the various manufacturing stages involved and the principles underpinning
the technology.
Basic principle: describe operation of the product or process as you have
imagined and designed it and/or illustrate it with a diagram.
State of the art Production: provide the key results of your research
and any measurements (graphs, photographs, etc.)
Know-how: make the most of your presentation
by promoting your team's skills. They may interest a company for other
applications or projects. Always quote methods, techniques and characterization
resources.
Illustrations: all pictures must be in BMP,
